The Cascade FFA chapter is participating in the Tennessee FFA P.L.O.W. (Passing Literacy Onward) program. The chapter’s goal is to promote Agriculture literacy in our school and community. Ag literacy is important since agriculture has become a major role in today’s society. There are six activities in which the members can participate in P.L.O.W. One of the activities is going to the SACP afterschool program for the elementary students. The members help tutor students with homework or do coloring activities with them. The members can also participate in the book drive in conjunction with the National English Honor Society, write a one page essay on the importance of agriculture literacy, create an Ag literacy poster, and/or tutor high school members. The last activity available to members is to present a 15 minute presentation about Ag literacy to an agriculture education class and to one middle school class. The members must complete two different activities in order to be eligible to attend the Tennessee State FFA Convention.
